In the summer it is a breeze getting ready.

In the winter things change dramatically. I have the hardest time getting going. First things is in the summer I rarely shower before work. I know that is gross to some people but I shower like 3 times a day as it is and you try getting up at 4am.

In the winter, however, I have to shower.  I need it to wake me up.  Before my shower I have to get dressed, go outside and start the car. Then I get undressed again, get in the shower, get out brush my teeth, get dressed and start the coffee.  This is all while waking up 20 minutes earlier than I would in the winter.

Then I add layers. I mean, I layer up man. Thermal hunting shirt, hoodie, snow hat, jacket, work boots, gloves the whole nine. I look like a giant puffball when I'm done.

Then if there is any shoveling to be done I get down on that.  It's a process.  One I have perfected.

It's all a pain in the rear end. But what are the alternatives? Some people move south.  That is not for me. I did it.  It stinks. The people are weird, the food sucks and you have to wave goodbye to a beach on your way to work. Not my style. My heart is here in the Tri-State area and I will die here.

So, I will have to keep my cold weather morning routine tight and right for many years to come.
