To be fair, he had nothing bad to say about the original films, and he did mention that he is friends with George Lucas.

James Cameron did have something to say, however, regarding the most recent film in the franchise, The Force Awakens.

In a recent interview with Hannah Litchfield, Cameron said:

I have to say that I felt that George’s group of six films had more innovative visual imagination...This film was more of a retrenchment to things you had seen before and characters you have seen before, and it took a few baby steps forward with new characters.

So, for me, the jury’s out. I want to see where they’re going with it.

OK, so because you're friends with Lucas are you actually going to try and make a case that episodes I and II were better than The Force Awakens? Who, by the way, made you the boss of all directors? That three-pronged crown belongs to Scorsese, Spielberg and Lucas.

I don't need to hear this garbage. I love the Terminator movies and Titanic, but a lot of what Cameron has done is not for me. I am in the minority on this one, but I am not an Avatar guy, no I am not. I have an Avatar DVD holding up an uneven leg on my desk at home. Take your blue CGI people, and go scratch.
