My son Lucas had his second game of the season this past Saturday as a member of the Danbury Trojans Tiny Mites at home versus the Waterbury Patriots.

The Trojans lost. They lost big. I don't honestly remember the final, it was something like 24-0. Something about the loss just did not sit right with me, however.

One of the things that bothered me was that one of the Waterbury players bared a striking resemblance to Baltimore Ravens great Ray Lewis. This made me suspicious, so I did some further investigating. I walked to the Waterbury side of the field and overheard two of the players talking about their 401k packages. That's not all. I happened to notice a few of the players drive themselves to the game. One player even had a "no regrets" tattoo.

Alright, I am just going to come out and say it -- it's my belief that Waterbury's players ranged in age from 26-31 years of age. There, I said it.

In all seriousness, I did not anticipate liking this whole experience. I thought I would be worried about my kid playing football, but he loves it. I get a rush every time I see him walk around like a tough guy after the game, and I know he is learning great life lessons from this. I've seen him accept a loss, learn discipline, and he's made sacrifices for his team. Sports teaches a lot of great lessons and I am proud to watch him learn those lessons.
