Danbury Police: Woman Injured With Knife in Fight After Car Accident

Police say a woman was seriously injured on January 10 after she was either slashed or stabbed during an altercation at a local gas station.

According to a press release from the Danbury Police Department, officers responded to the report of a car accident with injuries at 90 West St., which is the address of a Food Bag store. Upon arrival, however, the responding officers went into the store, where they found an unidentified woman who had seemingly suffered what they are calling stab/slash wounds to her hand, face and right eye.

During the investigation of the incident, the Danbury officers discovered that the woman was injured after she had been involved in an altercation with another woman.

Police say that near the gas pumps at the Food Bag, the injured woman struck a car in which Rosa Iris Tolentino-Reyes (pictured above) was a passenger. After the collision, Tolentino-Reyes allegedly came after the woman, assaulting her while the woman remained inside of the car.

During the scuffle, the victim reportedly produced a knife, but ended up being severely injured while trying to thwart off Tolentino-Reyes. The wounds to the victim's eye and face were so bad, she was eventually taken to Yale New Haven Hospital for immediate surgery.

Rosa Iris Tolentino-Reyes was arrested and charged with second degree assault and breach of peace. She is being held on a $25,000 bond pending release or arraignment.
