Local officers are actively searching for a suspect that they say was involved in a shooting in Danbury.

According to a press release from the Danbury Police Department, the shooting took place on Thursday afternoon (January 17) in the area of Ellsworth Avenue and Hospital Avenue. Police say that there is currently one victim who suffered a bullet wound in their arm and is being treated at Danbury Hospital.

The DPD reports that the shooting suspect was last seen on foot near Wooster Cemetery on Ellsworth Avenue. He's been described as a young adult male wearing a black North Face brand backpack and a blue do-rag on his head.

Since there are two schools within that area, Western Connecticut State University and Ellsworth Avenue Elementary School, police say they've been asked to take the proper security measures.

This is a developing story and we'll be sure to keep you updated as information about the investigation rolls in.
