Danbury Police: Drug Bust on Triangle Street Leads to Arrest

A Danbury resident was taken into custody by Danbury Police on Thursday and charged with three counts of drug possession.

According to a press release from the Danbury Police Department, members of the Danbury Police Department’s Special Investigations Division, with assistance from the Community Conditions Unit and a Uniform Patrol officer executed a court authorized search and seizure warrant for the residence of 25-year-old Douglas Meireles of Danbury.

Meireles had been under Police surveillance for weeks after neighbors had complained that he was allegedly selling illegal drugs within the City of Danbury.

On Thursday afternoon, Meireles was stopped by police while sitting in a car in the parking lot of his Triangle Street residence. At that time, police say they found him to be in possession of a substantial amount of illegal drugs and placed him under arrest.

After taking Meireles into custody, a search of his apartment turned up additional illegal drugs and other items to be used as evidence in the case, according to the report.

As a result of the warrants, the suspect was charged with three counts of drug and narcotics possession and held on $20,000 bond pending arraignment or the posting of bond.
