A convicted felon, who police say had been previously deported, has been arrested in Danbury on multiple drug charges.

According to a press release from the Danbury Police Department, Oliver Joan Ubiera and Daritza Rivera-Nunez were arrested at their apartment in Danbury following an investigation into Ubiera, which led police to believe that he was involved in dealing drugs.

At around 6:30 PM on Thursday (April 19) members of Danbury's Special Investigations Division (SID) the Community Conditions Unit, and patrol officers executed a warrant at the Ubiera's Danbury apartment. Police say they spotted him outside near his car, stuffing what they believed to be drugs into his waistband. Once Ubiera was arrested, officers say they moved on to a search of the apartment, where Daritza Rivera-Nunez also resided. Police reportedly found substantial amounts of crack cocaine, cocaine powder, and heroin, along with cash and drug paraphernalia.

While being processed at Danbury Police Headquarters, police discovered that Oliver Joan Ubiera is not only a convicted felon, but that he had already been deported to the Dominican Republic, and he reportedly returned the U.S. illegally to carry on with the drug trade.

Both Ubiera and Rivera-Nunez were arrested and charged with several counts of  possession with intent to sell among many other drug related charges. They are each being held on $250,000 bond.
