Exploring the Danbury Military Museum Through a Historical Gallery

If you're looking for something to do and want to learn a little bit about the military history of our country, then stop into the Military Museum of Southern New England in Danbury.

I haven't been there in a while, but this past weekend we took a short trip to the Military Museum of Southern New England on Park Ave. in Danbury. It's a place dedicated to the preservation of our military history, and a place where you can discover and learn about some of the vehicles and weapons that shaped the history of the 20th Century.

According to their website, usmilitarymuseum.org, the museum contains over 10,000 artifacts, so if you or someone you know served in the Armed Forces, you're sure to see something that represents their branch. They also display some rare and historic military vehicles, many of which are the only examples that have been preserved.

The museum is run solely by volunteers, and has been open to the public since 1995.

Admission is only $8 for adults, and $5 for young adults (5-18) with special discounts for active duty military and their families.

The museum has different winter and summer hours, and also has open turret days monthly. Just check their web site for days and hours of operation.
