After causing panic throughout the New York and Connecticut area with threats of a historic blizzard that would “cripple” the area, the National Weather Service is now apologizing since the storm only caused  inches of snow in our area.

And during the winter it snows … no big deal.

“My deepest apologies to many key decision makers and so many members of the general public,” said Gary Szatkowski, a NWS meteorologist, on Twitter. “You made a lot of tough decisions expecting us to get it right, and we didn’t. Once again, I’m sorry.”

At one point the NWS predicted up to 30 inches of snow, but there was only about 5 inches in Danbury. Find out how many inches you got here.

The Blizzard Warning, which was in affect until midnight on Tuesday has been downgraded to a Winter Storm Warning. The NWS says that Danbury could get another 3 to 5 inches throughout the day on Tuesday. Wind gusts are at 32 mph.

The Connecticut State travel ban is still in effect. Gov. Dannell Malloy will speak about the storm later this morning after 8 a.m. Travel is open in New York, but Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the roads are "still dangerous" though "passable." Anyone who doesn't have to drive, shouldn't.

Other parts of Connecticut, Boston and Long Island did, however, get hit big time with about 1 to 3 feet of snow, but we just didn’t see it in Danbury.
