Donors with all blood types are needed. In the next few days, there are local places for you to go to donate.

I've said this before, I personally can't thank the Red Cross and blood donors for all they do. Years ago, my mom needed frequent blood transfusions, and we would have been lost with out their help and generosity.

The Red Cross is, of course, so much more than just blood donations. But, since the need for blood is always great, I wanted to share the following. Donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types O, A negative and B negative. Did you know that whole blood can be donated every 56 days, up to six times a year, and double red cells may be donated every 112 days, up to three times per year.

Locally, there are a few donor opportunities in the month of April.

On April 26, Congregational Church of Brookfield, 160 Whisconier Road from 1:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

On April 25 : Ethan Allen Hotel, 21 Lake Avenue Extension from 12:15 p.m. - 6 p.m.

On April 26 and 27 : Western CT State University, 181 White Street from 11:45 a.m. - 5:15 p.m. both days.

To make an appointment to give blood, download the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, or visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
