Mental Illness and suicide. So devastating to families, communities and our Nation as a whole. We must do more. Here's how you can help.

Having been touched by this loss is often unspeakable. But I feel we have to speak up, stand up and do all we can to make the powers that be work harder at making more funding available to support the programs of Mental Health Awareness.
The AMERICAN FOUNDATION FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION is an incredible organization doing great work. Suicide is preventable and AFSP's goal is to reduce the suicide rate 20% by 2025.

A fabulous and empowering community event / fundraiser is the OUT OF THE DARKNESS walks. Locally the walk happens on Saturday October 10 at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport. Click on OUT OF THE DARKNESS for info. The walk starts at 1, registration at 11. They'll have food trucks, the Connecticut National Guard obstacle course, vendors, pumpkin carving station, chair massage. and more.

They even take walk ups the day of. All of the money raised goes towards southern CT's work to provide free education on suicide intervention to local schools and organizations, as well as advocacy and awareness events.

Everyone can Be A Hero and Be the Voice.
