There are people who truly have a calling to do what they do. The kind of person who would do what they do even if they didn't receive a paycheck. Such a person is ICU Nurse Vallerie Push and Bridgeport Hospital is honoring her with a Quality Award.

CTpost.com reports that a co-worker sent a letter detailing how she was in the right place at the right time for a  a motorcycle crash victim. Push and her husband were on their way to the park with their dog in the car when they saw a man lying in the road in bad shape. He had just crashed his motorcycle. The couple quickly sprang into action and Push created a toourniquet with her scarf and tied it around the rider's leg.

He was scared and disoriented and tried to get up and to take his helmet off. Vallerie helped calm him and understand why he needed not to move. Vallerie was there to support this man, continually assuring him that he was going to be okay and that the paramedics would be arriving soon. - quote from the letter written by a co-worker on Vallerie Push's behalf

Push's quick action, soothing demeanor and medical skils, the accident victim was safely transported to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
