"Monster." That about sums it up.

Despondent and in a bad place is a sorrowful thing, but murdering your child is obviously unforgivable. The story of how this unthinkable act played out is heart wrenching in and of itself. Whether the final outcome of how this innocent baby died was, as the father claimed, an accident, it's still all too horrifying for words.

According to courant.com, the man who killed his 7-month-old son, Aaden, by tossing him into the Connecticut River from the Arrigoni Bridge in Middletown, is getting a 70-year prison sentence.

Tony Moreno was sentenced yesterday (May 31) after being convicted about three months ago for the murder. During his trial, Moreno told jurors that his son slipped out of his hands to his death and that he only wanted to harm himself on that infamous July night in 2015.

Judge Elpedio N. Vitale imposed the maximum penalty on Moreno during a hearing in Superior Court. Vitale was quoted in the Hartford Courant:

The utter depravity of the crime — a father killing his infant son — speaks for itself.

Moreno is not eligible for parole, however his defense attorney says he will appeal the conviction. Good luck with that, buddy.

May baby Aaden rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his mother, family and friends. I hope they find some closure and peace themselves from this horrible act.
