Well, so much for hoverboarding from class to class.

The 17 schools that make up the Connecticut State University system announced that they have banned hoverboards from all campuses.

In a statement, the University system are a safety concern and cannot be "charged, operated or stored" on any Connecticut state campus.

According to NBC Connecticut, The University of Hartford, University of Bridgeport and Sacred Heart had already banned the popular boards. They have increasingly been seen as a fire hazard because of so many of the boards have caught on fire.

They should be banned simply because they aren't really hoverboards, more like motorized skateboards. What would Marty McFly think? In any case, CT is not alone. As of today, the New York MTA also announced today that they have banned hoverboards from all NYC subways, trains and buses.

As popular as these toys were at Christmastime, owners are quickly finding that there are fewer and fewer places where they are allowed.
