Getting Amazon's HQ would be a coup for our state.

You sure can't deny the world wide dominance and power of Amazon. With Connecticut having lost some major industry players in the past few years, scoring Amazon being headquartered here would be an amazing boost. Could it happen?

According to the business section of the Hartford Courant  officials in Connecticut say they are entering the competition for a new Amazon headquarter sight that the company is looking to build. Their main headquarters will remain in Seattle but Amazon said its new headquarters will be equally as important while growing to 50,000 employees as the company continues to create jobs.

On the Amazon website amazon.com the statement reads:

Amazon HQ2 will be Amazon’s second headquarters in North America. We expect to invest over $5 billion in construction and grow this second headquarters to include as many as 50,000 high-paying jobs – it will be a full equal to our current campus in Seattle. In addition to Amazon’s direct hiring and investment, construction and ongoing operation of Amazon HQ2 is expected to create tens of thousands of additional jobs and tens of billions of dollars in additional investment in the surrounding community.

Amazon's website includes the link for cities and towns across the country to submit their proposals, and the mayor of our state's capital city says Hartford will make a direct pitch for the new facility.

The state as a whole will also be throwing it's hat into the pool through the state Department of Economic and Community Development. Kelly Donnelly, a spokeswoman for Governor Malloy was quoted in courant.com saying:

Situated between New York and Boston, home to great schools and world-class universities, and boasting a high quality of life, Connecticut would be a great home for a second Amazon headquarters

Let's all collectively throw out a prayer, and for good measure, keep our fingers and toes crossed, maybe grab a rabbit's foot for luck too! I say it can't hurt.
