How does Connecticut stack up with the rest of the country on 10 different subjects?From an article in the NewsTimes comes a report on how Connecticut compares to the rest of the United States in a lot of different stuff. Let's take a closer look.

1. QUALITY OF LIFE

The city of Hartford came in 14th in the country for health, happiness, and safety according to U.S. News and World Reports.

2. FISCAL HEALTH

Connecticut ranked almost dead last in fiscal health with Puerto Rico coming in last. Each state was ranked on cash solvency, budget solvency, long-run solvency, and service-level solvency and Connecticut pretty much sucked in all of them.

3. PROPERTY TAXES

According to Wallethub.com Connecticut has the sixth highest property taxes in the nation and the 4th highest motor vehicles taxes.

4. BEST STATES FOR HOMEBUYERS

Connecticut also does poorly in this category as well. According to Wallethub.com Connecticut is near the bottom. Out of 300 cities surveyed, Waterbury, Bridgeport, New Haven, and Stamford come in at the bottom of the heap.

5. BEST STATES FOR WOMEN

According to Wallerhub.com women love Connecticut which came in at number 11. Minnesota and Vermont were the two favorite states for women.

6. WORKING DADS

According to the financial climate, unemployment rates for dads, and health conditions, working dads scored second in the nation.

7. WORKING MOMS

Connecticut shined in this category taking 3rd place overall according to Wallethub.com. We were #1 in 'work-life balance,' #12 in 'best child care,' and #37 in 'professional opportunities.'

8. SUMMER DESTINATION

It's a sad ranking for Connecticut in this category. The criteria was based on vacation cost and attractions. According to Wallethub.com the Bridgeport, Norwalk, Stamford area came in at the bottom. New Haven/Milford came in second to last but Hartford did a bit better at 66 out of 80.

9. EDUCATION

Connecticut excels in the 'education' category. Wallethub took a look at 150 areas in the country and found the Bridgeport/Norwalk/Stamford area placed 12th. Number 1 belonged to Ann Arbor, Michigan coming in last were two areas in Texas.

10. DOCTORS

Wallethub claims that Connecticut is one of the worst for doctors. Opportunity, competition, and medical quality showed that Connecticut needs to do some work.
