A Navy sailor from Milford stepped into the history books on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018.

Allon C. Louisgene graduated from Platt Technical High School in Milford and immediately enlisted in the Navy in November 2017 where he was hand-picked to serve in the Navy Ceremonial Guard. Navy sailor Louisgene was chosen to help carry the casket of the 41st President of the United States from the Capitol to the Washington National Cathedral.

The Milford native was also chosen as a pallbearer for the late Senator, John McCain. His mother Marie who was beaming with pride told WTNH-TV:

He knows the Navy is the path he wants to go down. He's very proud of his position. We are all very proud of him. He is the first in our family to go into the military.

Allon Louisgene is the sailor on the right and the third man from the front of the casket:
