A beautiful day on the water turned into a nightmare on Saturday (July 7) when four people had to be rescued from their sinking boat.

TheHour.com reports that the Marine Unit of the Norwalk Police Department were called to rescue a vessel in the waters off of the coast of Norwalk near Peck's Ledge Lighthouse that had taken on a lot of water. When they arrived, they found four people in the sinking boat. All of the occupants were rescued by police and brought onto a police boat. Police Lieutenant Terry Blake said that even though the boat was about 1/3 of the way underwater when the unit arrived, marine officers were able to pump enough water out of the boat to tow it back to Veteran's Park docks.

It is not yet known why the boat took on so much water but thankfully no one was injured. No other information was available.
