Long lines are possible like this one at the CT DMV offices in the middle of August

In order to upgrade their computer systems, the Connecticut Department of Motor vehicles will be pretty much closing down their offices from August 11th to the 15th. The only thing that you will be still be able to do while this upgrade is happening is licensing services.

For any vehicle registration, driver’s license, or ID card that expires ON or AFTER AUGUST 11, 2015, renewals can be done without a late fee until OCTOBER 10, 2015. Expirations have also been extended until that date.

AAA offices will be open, including the Danbury office located at 93 Lake Avenue, for licensing renewals and services through that whole week.
