Former Cincinnati sluggerGeorge Foster steps up to the podium as the keynote speaker at the Danbury Westerners 22nd Annual Celebrity Breakfast, scheduled for June 10 at 7:30am at the Amber Room Colonade.Baseball fans will never forget the "Big Red Machine" team that won back to back World Series titles in '75 and '76 by beating the Red Sox in 7 games and the Yankees in 4. Foster was an integral part of the Reds along with Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, Joe Morgan, and Tony Perez. Foster led the league in home runs in '77 and '78 and RBI's in '76, '77, and '78. Foster also played for the Giants, Mets, and the White Sox and served as the First Commissioner of the NECBL. 

According to the NewsTimes, the Danbury Westerners, a part of the New England Collegiate Baseball League(NECBL) will also introduce their new manager, University of Bridgeport's pitching coach, Josh ParrowParrow served as the Westerners pitching coach last season.

The Westerners will open up their season on the same day at 6:30pm at Roger's Park, when they battle the Plymouth Pilgrims. The Westerners feature Binghamton University pitcher and New Fairfield High School standout, Nick Gallagher and Shelton High pitcher, Ryan Testani of Seton Hall.
