Age ain’t nothing but a number for Americans.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released data this week showing we’re living longer than we ever have.

According to the CDC, babies born in 2009 will live an average of 78-and-a-half years, topping the 78.1 years for those born in 2008. Boys born in 2009 can expect to make it to age 76, while girls will chug along 80.9 years.

Caucasians born in 2009 will live 78.8 years, while Hispanics will hang in for 81.2 and Africans-Americans will expire after 74.5 years.

While Americans are living longer, we still have a long way to go to catch up with the rest of the world. The US is ranked about 30th in life expectancy. Maybe we could improve if we just fixed our diets.
