It was 46 years ago today the world was just beginning to grasp the impact of the festival that shutdown the New York Thruway man!

The Woodstock Music and  Arts Fair wrapped up three crazy days - ( that turned into four ) and nights on this day in 1969. Max Yasgur's Farm would also never be the same!

I've had the chance to spend ton's of time in the "iconic" Woodstock NY area, where of course the festival was originally set. I have family and friends that are there and you can't beat a trip to Woodstock! That said, we all know the festival wound up happening in Bethel NY. On the site now is a fabulous music venue and a museum that honors Woodstock. It's a definite must see.

By 1969 Jimi Hendrix was the world's highest paid rock musician and he was the highest paid performer at the festival as well as the last. Jimi was supposed to play at midnight on Sunday but he took the stage 8am on Monday August 18.

Here's his legendary performance of "The Star Spangled Banner"
