Celebrating Jack Marcus
Born in 1916, Jack Marcus grew up on a dairy farm and started delivering milk before school started at the age of 10.
This past Monday, Jack Marcus passed away at the age of 97. Since 1947, Marcus Dairy supplied milk to the greater Danbury CT area. But Jack wasn't just know for his dairy, he was one of the areas most generous philanthropists supporting Danbury Hospital, the United Jewish Center, Wooster School, the Association of Religious Communities along with many others.
Over the last 6 decades, Marcus Dairy was not just somewhere to go, it was a destination sought out by hundreds of thousands of people in Connecticut and New York state for it's amazing store made ice cream and scrumptious breakfasts and lunches!! On most Sunday mornings, motorcycles would cruise in from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York to congregate in the Marcus Dairy parking lot for some breakfast and comraderie. It was a sight to behold and Jack Marcus loved it! Jack and his wife, Pearl were a team who shared their good fortune with many organizations throughout the greater Danbury area. Jack Marcus was one of the good ones and will be missed!
