The Chicago Cubs have not been in the World Series since 1945, they have not won one since 1908. Sure, the Indians have had their own long drought but nothing like this.

They were close to a World Series appearance not that long ago and on October 14th 2003 the curse reared it's ugly head when Steve Bartman touched a ball that could gave been and out my Mouises Alou in the 8th inning of Game 6 of the NLCS. The Marlins won and beat the Yankees in the World Series.

Here we are with the Cubs taking on the Indians and I have a feeling that something weird is going to happen and the Cubs will lose the series. It's just a feeling I have. It's not at all that I am rooting against them, quite the opposite but I have a feeling.

I do wonder though is it a self fulfilling prophecy? Is this something on the player's minds? The manager and the players will all tell you no. That is their job as active players to downplay any of these external elements. I'd be willing to bet retired players will tell you different. The same players who when they were active would tell you Yankees/Red Sox is just another game will now tell you a very different story after retirement. No matter what happens I think we are in for an historic World Series.
