Some entertainment in Connecticut's largest city may soon take a bit more of a bite out your wallet.

I know I'm not alone when I say that my paycheck is being squeezed here in Connecticut. For that matter, living here in general is, dare I say it, taxing!

But at the end of the day, here we are, just trying to make the best of it, and having some fun when we can. Sadly, some of that fun may start costing you even more.

Ctpost.com is reporting that city officials in Bridgeport are checking into the possibility of a tax on ticket sales at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard and Webster Bank Arena. It turns out that there is a new Connecticut law that lets cities and towns tax event tickets by up to five-percent.

Scott Burns, who is a Bridgeport councilman and budget committee chairman told Ctpost.com:

Practically speaking, a lot of folks who visit those venues aren’t necessarily Bridgeport residents. The city pays for much of the infrastructure required to directly or indirectly provide an evening’s or weekend’s entertainment.

At this point, nothing is written in stone, but they are serious enough to be working on a proposal. Since the story says that an event tax could bring in many hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual revenue to the city, you have to believe they'll be serious about getting it done.
