Let's give it up for Brewster High School! Out of 46 high schools in the lower Hudson Valley, Brewster High School's theater department is the front runner after being nominated for 15 Metropolitan High School Theater awards!

According to Brewster Performing Arts Boosters, this is the first year that Putnam County schools were eligible to participate in the Metros.

Here are just some of the categories that Brewster High has been nominated for:

1. Outstanding Overall Production....Shrek: The Musical

2. Actress In a Leading Role....Sydney Gershon...Fiona

3. Actor In a Leading Role....Andrew Gordon...Shrek

4. Actor In a Supporting Role....Brandon Salamone...Lord Farquaad

Shrek Director Stephanie Rubino was bursting with joy when she said, "I am beyond proud of all the students and production staff. For the first time they can be recognized for their wonderful department and hard work! It is such an honor to be nominated!"

Ms. Rubino is a vocal coach and gives private lessons along with being the owner of a youth theatre company, Spotlight Arts Inc.
