If you're looking for alternative accommodations for just one night or maybe one week, "Airbnd" is worth checking out.

Airbnb is an online accommodations marketplace where you can either find a room and/or home to rent OR you can become an instant entrepreneur by renting out your home or just a room in your home.

Airbnb boasts more than 1 million listings across 190 countries in 34,000 cities with more than 25 million guests served, according to the News-Times.

After doing some research, I've found room prices per night can run from $50 to $1,500 depending on what type of accommodations you're looking for. Many of the listings require a two night stay.

Every town in the greater Danbury area have listings on Airbnd, from Candlewood Lake waterfront to a small room in a private home.

The only disadvantage of booking a room through Airbnb is if you have an issue with staying in another person's home and their cleanliness standards are not up to yours, it can certainly make you feel uncomfortable.

The huge advantage is most times the cost is much less than a hotel, especially in Connecticut.

If you're thinking about renting a room in your home, make sure you check with your town. Many towns require a "special use permit" before you're able to place your listing on Airbnb.
