From the Newcaanite comes a report of more bobcat sightings in the New Canaan area last Monday.There has been about a dozen bobcat sightings in different neighborhoods around New Canaan with the most current sighting in a yard on Dogwood Lane. Over the last three weeks there have been 5 reported sightings. 

The good news is that bobcats are usually afraid of humans and will runaway if approached, so they're not a danger to adults and children. The bad news is they are not afraid of small pets and livestock like rabbits, squirrels, and birds which are their favorite things to eat. They also love poultry, small pigs and sheep.

Because they choose to avoid humans, they are most active after dusk and before dawn. On rare occasions if a bobcat becomes aggressive, you can chase it away by making loud noises or spraying it with water from your hose.

Back in August of 2012, a bobcat family of three moved into the backyard of a Ridgefield home and the mama didn't seem all that afraid of the adults. A wildlife biologist from the State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection told the family that, "The bobcats aren't a threat in most circumstances
