On my Facebook page I recently posted, "What's your favorite kind of donut and where can they be found?" and again your response was extraordinary! Thank you!

I would like to take a moment to 'thank' the Dutch settlers who moved into what is now Manhattan in the mid 1600's where they invented a cooked dough they called 'oily cakes' made by dropping spoonfuls of dough into pork fat and donuts were born! Hallelujah! We are all aware that donuts aren't good for you but damn those cute little doughy fried sugar bombs are so freakin' delicious!

Before I list some of your favorite donuts and where they came from, I must give a shout-out to Dottie's Diner in Woodbury recognized by Connecticut Magazine, Roadfood.com., and Thrillest.com. who named Dottie's Diner as one of the Top 33 Donut Shops in the country! Here's a  listing of your favorite donuts and where to find them.
