My choice is in Watertown.

The word "buffet" always draws my attention. I love paying $20 and stuffing my face with a variety of different foods. We've seen our share of buffet-style restaurants come and go over the years in Western Connecticut, but Chinese buffets never seem to close.

Last week, Mrs. Large suggested we go to Imperial China Buffet, located in the Ten Acre Mall in Watertown (in between LaBonne's and K-Mart) at 615 Straits Turnpike. Wow! What a great place! It's easy to miss, located in a strip mall plaza, but once you step inside, it's tough to forget.

Imperial China Buffet features all of the usual favorites you'd expect like egg rolls, Lo Mein, General Tso's, Chow Mein, golden fingers, soups, spare ribs, and every chicken product known to man. Imperial also offers low-calorie options in their weight watchers section.

They have plenty of seafood: snow crab legs, clams, peel n eat shrimp, calamari, and much more. There is a Hibachi grill, and a Sushi station, plus dessert: lots of cake bites and pastries, ice cream, and jello and puddings. All in all, excellent! I was blown away by the quality and the variety of buffet items. The servers were attentive, but not bothersome.

The price for the buffet is very reasonable, $13.75 per person for dine-in, and they also offer buffet take-out for $4.95 per pound ($8.55 per seafood pound). Very well worth it in my opinion.

So, the next time you need a meal after shopping for your next vehicle in one of the 20 car dealers that line Straits Turnpike, I suggest giving Imperial China Buffet a shot. Very good food and service at a reasonable price. Where is your favorite buffet?
