The Newtown Savings Bank on Federal Road in Brookfield was robbed this morning, and the Police are currently searching for the suspect (pictured above).

According to a press release from the Brookfield Police Department, the robbery took place at about 8:55 AM on Friday when the suspect handed a note to a teller, demanding money. Police say he did not show or mention that he had any weapons.

The suspect is described as a black male standing about 5'10'' with a moustache and a medium build. He was wearing a dark baseball cap with a white stripe, a grey hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and work boots. The report says he was walking to the right toward Brookfield as he left the bank.

Officers responded, secured the bank, and began to search the area for the suspect. They were assisted by a New Haven K-9 unit who happened to be in Brookfield for training. Police say the suspect was not found and may have left the area in a vehicle possibly parked on or near Grays Bridge Road behind the Newtown Savings Bank.

Anyone who may have information about the robbery or the whereabouts of the suspect pictured above should call Sgt. Michael O'Brien immediately at 203-775-2575.
