If you were to line up the career statistics of Jim Morrison and Scott Stapp on paper you would probably be able to draw a line straight down the middle. Both were considered huge rock stars, both were front men for hugely successful rock bands which sold millions of records and both battled their own personal demons which have been widely publicized.
Yet if you were to ask 100 rock fans who is cooler, Jim Morrison or Scott Stapp, 99 out of the 100 will likely say, hands down, it’s Jim Morrison. As one of the 99% I’m going to try to explain why.
There are many who want to believe that the members of Pink Floyd had everything to do with the synchronization of their classic 1973 album "The Dark Side of the Moon" with the 1939 film "The Wizard Of Oz". I, however, would like to believe it was something far bigger than that.
Anyone who thinks downloading a new album off of the internet is no different than actually holding a copy of it in your hands is experiencing a serious lapse of reason. Hopefully for their sake it is only momentary.
On Tuesday night Justin Hayward entertained i95 listeners with an amazing live concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse. On that same night in 1972, Hayward and his band The Moody Blues were sitting proudly at the top of the charts with an epic piece of music that sounds just as brilliant 42 years later: 'Nights In White Satin'.
I wonder if Johnny Mathis got misty when he first heard "Dark Side of the Moon". After all, that album was going to eventually leave him as helpless as a kitten up a tree.
On this day in 1983 Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" marked its 491st week on the Billboard album chart. That number was a significant one since it set a new record for most weeks on the chart. Now here's a question that you may not know the answer to: Which album held the previous record?
The classic horror film "Halloween" made it's debut in theaters 36 years ago (October 17th, 1978). Much like Michael Myers' victims no one, even the people that actually made the movie, could see what was coming next.
This little film with a shoe-string budget about a soulless serial killer was about to make movie history.
