I just moved back to New Milford a few months back after being away for eight years and I'd like to say I am surprised about these drug deaths, but I am not. That has nothing to do with any feelings I have for the people of New Milford.

It has much more to do with the fact that heroin in the local area is a serious problem that we are all aware of, but we unfortunately are turning a blind eye to.

According to the News Times, Christopher DeFino passed away of a heroin overdose at the age of 25. You can read the original article here.

The article claims Christopher had struggled with addiction for some years but had been clean for three years  He died June 22 at his parents' home.

The issue at hand now for authorities is where did he get the drugs?  Police now have two suspects in custody.

On July 9, Ryan Jordan of New Milford was charged with the sale of a narcotic substance and conspiracy to commit the sale of narcotic substance. Now a second man Jared R. Beatty of Peru, VT has been charged with aiding in the sale of a narcotic substance and conspiracy to commit the sale of a narcotic substance.

From everything I have read about this kid he was a good looking, smart, decent human being with a serious problem and it's sad to see.

I don't know the solution to the problem, but we all have to admit there is one.
