Amityville House of Horror on Long Island Recently Purchased

What really happened at 112 Ocean Ave. in the quiet town of Amityville on Long Island?

Books and movies have been written about this supposed House of Horrors, but how much of the story is actually true? Newsday reports that the infamous 1927 Dutch Colonial on Ocean Ave. in Amityville has been sold. Are the new owners aware that on November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr. shot and killed six members of his family in that same house?

After the DeFeo murders, the house remained vacant for 13 months until December of 1975, when George and Kathleen Lutz bought the house. After living in the house for 28 days, the Lutz's left the house claiming they were being terrorized by paranormal phenomena. This is what Danny Lutz told Fox News, 37 years later, about the 28 days they lived at 112 Ocean Ave:

Despite the book, The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson and the many movies that were made about the so-called possessed house, only one fact has been proven -- Ronald DeFeo was convicted of the murder of his family and still remains in Greenhaven Correctional Facility serving six 25-to-life prison sentences.

According to the website, thetruthaboutamity.amitynow.com, everything everyone else was saying, including reports and research by so-called professionals and amateurs since the Lutz family moved out, cannot be proven.

Here are some of the claims made by individuals, demonologists, including the Warrens, and paranormal investigators:

• The house was plagued by swarms of flies
• There were cold spots and odors of perfume and excrement in certain areas of the house
• Green, gelatin-like slime oozed from walls in the hall
• George saw Kathy transform into an old woman of 90
• While tending the fire, George and Kathy saw an image of a demon with half his head blown out
• When they attempted to have the house blessed by a Catholic priest. as soon as the holy water was flicked around, a masculine voice demanded that he "get out!"

There were many other tales that were told about other scary stuff that transpired. If I was looking for a new house, even if I didn't believe in any of the mumbo jumbo that's mentioned in the books or movies about the Amityville house, I would just pick another place to live. Who needs that kind of notoriety, unless that's exactly what you're looking for? BOO!
