I bought a pair of these around 10 years ago and haven't slipped since.

They're called Stabilicers. They're awesome. You pop them on over your shoes, and it's like little metal ice cleats. They just bite into the ice or snow, and give you that traction that you really need.

I've got horrible knees, many years of hauling my enormous trunk around has done a number on them. These things give me the confidence to walk up a driveway of pure ice. My Facebook feed has been filled the past couple of days with horrible stories about how people have fallen and hurt themselves.

They are only $20 bucks, and you can get them at Cabela's, LL Bean, EMS, Amazon, etc. It beats having to pay all those co-pays if you fell and seriously injured yourself, so it's a great investment.
