Things to put on your travel log for the warmer days ahead should include hanging at the shore, and grabbing some great eats while you're there. Let's gas up the car and go.

I don't know about you, but warmer temps and longer days give me wanderlust and the munchies! Even though there is a fantastic pool in my condo complex, sometimes you just need sand between your toes, and you need to follow that up with tasty seafood at a casual shoreline spot.

This time of year, I start my quest for places to enjoy all of the above. You might want to add this to your next day trip.

All you have to do is check out CT.gov to learn that Hammonasset Beach State Park, is Connecticut's largest shoreline park. It boasts over two miles of beach to enjoy swimming, walk the boardwalk, or just work on your tan and play in the surf.  All of that just about an hour and a half away from the Danbury area.

Just two miles from the beach, is a place I'm itching to get to. The Clam Castle on Route 1 in Madison Connecticut. The Clam Castle's menu has me drooling for whole belly clams, chowder, soft-shell crabs, and be still my heart - lobster mac n' cheese!

My theory is that if I get too messy with my food, I can just run back into the surf.
