We spoke about Memorial Day this morning on the Ethan and Lou show. We did not do our typical "do's and dont's" for your Memorial Day party list.

This morning, we really wanted to remind people what the day is about. Quite simply, Memorial Day is a day to honor the brave men and women who have served our military and died in combat. We asked the listeners to call in with ideas on how we can honor these folks while we all go about our weekend. Gary from Danbury, CT called with this great suggestion.

That was the best idea we heard.

I really must say that I am so thankful to anyone who has served this country in protection of our freedoms. I never served my country, and quite frankly, I have guilt about that. I have friends who served honorably in Iraq and Afghanistan. I was lucky to see them all come home, but they were different. War took a toll on them. One of those friends tragically ended his own life years later. The people who risk everything for the rest of us are absolutely the truest example of why this country is so great. Take a minute to remember those who served, and who fought and died in battle on Memorial Day. Take a minute to thank our veteran's who are still with us as well. They deserve it.
