They came in from New Jersey, Schroon Lake, Schenectady, New Milford, Bristol, and a room in our basement. It was a big, loud, hilarious, functionally dysfunctional Mother's Day party!

All my favorite Moms gathered on Fleetwood Drive in New Fairfield for dinner, drinks, matzo ball soup, beef brisket, and then a boisterous round of group bingo. Yes, bingo. Add the fact that Mindy's mom, Connie is almost deaf. "Whaaaaat?! Did you say G-60?!"

Now, let's add a 2-year-old (my grandson, Bradley) a 4-year-old (Mindy's grand niece, Gabriella) sons, daughters, boyfriends, husbands and wives. Toys on the floor, EJ and I singing "Yellow Submarine" for Bradley, and I thought my head was going to explode, in a good way, of course!

To give you a brief synopsis of what the evening was like:

Steven: (Mindy's Brother): "Hey ma, did you make the rice pudding I like?"

Connie: "Whaaaat? Mindy, what did Stevie say?"

Mindy: Yelling, "He said, did you make the rice pudding?!"

Connie: "Did he say ice footing? What's that?"

Steven: "Never mind!"

Mindy's mom, Connie is 86. She lives by herself, plays bocce ball, goes to the Saratoga Racerino to gamble, plays cards with the guys, and drives her 91-year-old friend, Evelyn around. Yes, Connie, at 4' 7" still drives while sitting on 5 phones books. She told me before she left our house this morning, "When someone my age stops moving and doing, they're done."

I'll leave you with an original Mother's Day quote from our middle son, Ethan James:

Mother is the word for God on the lips and hearts of all children.

Ladies, you are the real life Super Heroes.

I've been so blessed to be a part of your world.

I've watched so many of my friend's children grow.

I've been lucky enough to hear them laugh and play.

And they all hold a special place in my heart.

Celebrate your Motherhood EVERY DAY.

Just a little more, today.
