Connecticut is full of places to spend your hard-earned cash. Restaurants, retail establishments, mini-golf places, liquor stores, and so many more, all lined up to take your debit card.

I love touring our great state on the weekends, prowling around and seeking out the new areas being built up. I've been doing it for 30 years.

I've seen a lot of Jordan's Furniture commercials recently, touting their zip-line course in-store. Stew Leonard's has long been more than just a grocery store, it's a maze, filled with activities, free samples, and fun for kids (A petting zoo!).

I started thinking about diverse shopping destinations, specifically, locations that offer multiple stores, activities, and experiences. Connecticut has some excellent locales that keep me coming back, here are a few of my favorites:

    Westfarms

1500 New Britain Ave - West Hartford

Westfarms is the best mall in Connecticut. Nordstroms, Apple, Lego, Louis Vuitton, and PF Chang's are among the over 160 stores. Westfarms is never a ghost town, unlike some other CT malls. There is always a steady stream of humanity milling about.

    Main Street/Brooks Corner - Westport

    Main Street/Post Road - Westport

If you've got an extra thousand to drop on a Sunday, consider hitting this area of Westport. West Elm, David's Tea, Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, J. Crew, Nike, NYC designers, and unique foods. Very cool area to shop.

    The Shops at Yale

Crown, York, Chapel Streets - New Haven

Extremely diverse selection of destinations, including Urban Outfitters, Atticus Bookstore Cafe, Apple, L'Occitane, the Yale Bookstore, and over 25 different dining options. Plus, you'll feel smarter just by mingling among the brilliant students.

    Cabela's

475 East Hartford Blvd North - East Hartford

An indoor mountain, covered in taxidermy animals, with a pond that has live fish. A shooting gallery for the kids, a cafe that serves traditional fare plus game meats. Boats, RV's, tents, guns, knives, every fishing lure ever made, beef jerky, hunting gear, etc. Cabela's is outdoor activity heaven. Great place to discover things you never knew you needed.

    Clinton Crossing

    20 Killingworth Turnpike, Clinton

Great outlet center along the shoreline. Kate Spade, Le Creuset, Nike, Michael Kors, Talbots, White House/Black Market, and Yankee Candle, among many others. Immaculate grounds, and plenty of parking. A pleasure to shop
