My 2-year-old grandson, Bradley, loves to take a walk down the street and gaze at a tiny waterfall in one of our neighbor's yards. "Papa, go see waterfall." I can't imagine the look on his face if I showed him some "big boy" waterfalls.

From the "Nature Blows My Mind" files, comes one of my favorites, WATERFALLS! Let's take a look at my five favorite waterfalls in Connecticut.

1. Kent Falls State Park- My all time favorite is located on Rt. 7 in Kent, Connecticut and this waterfall is the mac-daddy of all waterfalls! This natural wonder of nature has 250 feet of cascades and plunges along with an easy trail alongside, so you're able to follow the falls from the bottom to the top. If you make plans for a trip to Kent Falls, DO NOT forget your camera.

2. Enders Falls - Enders Falls is located in Enders State Forest Park in Granby, CT near Hartford. The hiking time along the trail is 15 minutes and there is swimming allowed during the summer. There's no fee and feel free to bring your dog along.

3. Nonnewaug Falls - Nonnewaug Falls is also known as Leever Falls and is off the beaten track in Woodbury where you'll need to take a short walk through the woods to reach the falls. The 18-foot drop begins as a horsetail and ends in a 7-foot plunge into a pool of water. Unfortunately swimming is not allowed but dogs are.

4. Indian Wells Falls - Shelton - Indian Wells Falls is a 15-foot plunge that empties into a small pool, but again, don't bring your bathing suit because swimming is not allowed. There is a beach just minutes from the falls on the Housatonic River.

5. Buttermilk Falls  - Buttermilk Falls is in Litchfield County in the town of Plymouth and is part of Buttermilk Falls Nature Preserve. This baby's got a 55-foot drop but swimming is not permitted but dogs are, and, it's free.
