It looks as though some much needed work is coming to parts of Route 6 in Carmel and Somers.

According to the Putnam Daily Voice, work will get set to begin along Route 6 in Carmel and Somers at two different intersections. One area is where Rt 6 and 118 meet each other in Somers, and the other in Carmel at Rt 6 and Union Valley Road.

The plan is to now include and build turning lanes at these intersections so that traffic can move much better. This will hopefully significantly get rid of delays in these two areas. Widening of these areas and including new traffic signals are planned too.

In addition to helping delays and traffic flow, the $2 million will also create lots of construction jobs throughout the process.  The work will begin next week and last through December according to the Putnam Daily Voice.
